Mono prints

Variation on a different theme this time.I wanted to make a series of Mono prints on the same page.I found a magazine image and decided to go over it each time with a pen.By doing this with each overdrawing the image changed slightly as the ink from my pen began to cover the original outlines of the image. You may be able to tell that the first print from my inked plate was the bottom left hand side.By going over the image on occasion it was difficult to know whether I had gone over the line this time or the time before.
I experimented with this , as I was thinking about the word 'Incognito' which relates to a show that I am going to take part in. I wanted to see if by using this simple method I can slightly alter the identity or representation of the image.

This is the first Mono print using the image.

Woods or Forest? Variation on a theme

This print has 4 separate colours.

This is a ghost image from the stencil on the screen.

I have been working on these prints for a little while now. Experimenting with different paper, stencils and colours.I also used gold paper which to the eye looks really different than when I have photographed the image as it reflects everything back at you.Where I have experimented with the colours quite a lot I am posting them so that I can view them from a different perspective ; rather than having them hanging up and/or piled on top of each other in my flat .The original image for the work was from the Island history trust.

      http://www.islandhistory.org.uk/
Although, it has a website with lots of information , it no longer has the funding so that it can continue. It was a great resource to pop in and talk to the volunteers about the changes to the area and having access to an extensive archive of photographs and newsletters.I would recommend having a look especially if you like old photographs; as I do.
They were/are a great resource to find out about the area that I live in now ; which has undergone so much change in recent years. There were docks where my Grandfather and Uncle  worked  and all of the industries related to that ; and now the area has gone from being a fairly desolate area to one that has Canary wharf , big banks and housing development that is going up at a rapid pace; constantly changing the environment and skyline around me.
The Photo of Island gardens is not one that I recognise due to the changes in the area ,but, I really like the idea of having a space like that in London.Saying that there is a local farm.So I can sit up high in my tower block and listen to a cow moo on a quiet day.
If you have any print preferences ,please let me know it would be good to hear what you think.
