This week has been a bit of a mixed bag.I visited a show yesterday called 'Catalyst' at the Husk gallery in Commercial road .I was lucky as it was the last day of the show and the work was really good. The work was a collaborative project between a group of Artists ;Sasha Bowles, Rosalind Davis ,Justin Hibbs, Evy Jokhova, Marion Michell & Annabel Tilley. 'The piece passes from hand to hand a chain of interventions append , dismantle ,embellish ....' It is an interesting way to work to allow the process of making a piece continue without having overall control and watch it alter. I ahve listed all of the artists names so that you can look them up if you want to have a look.I first saw some work by Sasha Bowles at the Material tension exhibition a few weeks ago and was lucky to find her exhibition close to where I live.

Below are some photos of the work that was on display.
After that, Off to the Wapping pottery school to have a day of clay with Peter and Basil .Where I experimented with screen printing onto clay and in this hot weather ,will soon have pieces dry enough to go into the kiln. There are more classes throughout the summer and I am really looking forward to going again.I may even try and use the potters wheel-under supervision of course. It is well worth going if you want to find tickets ,here is the link:

So, after feeling invigorated by a day of art and creativity; I got home and on contacting the venue owner; who I have been arranging details with over the last month or two about hanging my work ( and all of the details of publicity ,which wall to use, which fixings, what time would be best to hang the work etc..) as part of the Leytonstone Art Trail . Which starts this Saturday ! You've probably guessed.
He informed me that he has changed his mind .
Well, now I am without a venue. All of the guides are printed with my name on , showing the venue I am exhibiting in ; on the map and nothing that I have spent time framing and getting ready ; inviting people to is going to be there.Yesterday I was really upset and think that if only I had been given a little more notice I could have arranged something else . So ,I would like to point out that any work on the walls of La Bella Vita restaurant/cafe are NOT mine.
Leytonstone has been preparing for the Arts trail for a while and many venues are having works hung up as I type this.People are getting into the spirit of the arts trail and putting their contributions in their windows; Going with the whole ethos of 'Lets fill Leytonstone with art'.
Here is a link to the Arts trail. There are lots of different events going on around the area in conjunction with the trail. It runs from the 4-12 July.

Or you can find details on Facebook.
I have to thank Hilary for trying to find me another venue at short notice .I will show at the 'Hang with us ' event on 4th . Sale of work is to support Great Ormond Street.
Anyway, although disappointed there is not a great deal that I can do about that now. Instead, today I am thinking about the new things that I will be able to make with clay next week and also playing with the idea of experimenting more with my work and the' catalyst' show has got me thinking about collaborating more (notice that I avoided using a pun here !) which is something that I haven't done too much in the past especially in terms of altering what you are making when often that is what you feel the need to have complete control over. I am going now to send something in the post and see what happens to it.
